What if my friend doesn't use my link but mentions my name?
You're still credited. We ask every new client how they heard about us. If they name you, we tag the file to your account and you get the $500 when it funds.
How long does it take from referral to payout?
Depends on when your friend's mortgage funds. A purchase typically closes 30-90 days from first conversation. A renewal can close 14-21 days. Once funded, the $500 e-transfer is sent within 5 business days.
Is there a tax implication for the $500?
Referral payments may be considered taxable income depending on your situation. We issue a T4A if your annual referral payouts exceed $500 in a calendar year. Consult your accountant for tax advice specific to you.
