The Mortgage Agent Level 1 course doesn't have to cost you anything. Here's how our course-fee payback works: get licensed, join us, fund $10M in 12 months, and your fees come back.
Becoming a mortgage agent in Ontario usually starts with a bill: you pay for the Mortgage Agent Level 1 course before you've earned a dollar. At Mortgage Squad Advisors, it doesn't have to stay that way. Get licensed, join us, fund $10 million in your first 12 months, and we pay back your course fees in full. Here's exactly how it works.
The short answer
You can become a mortgage agent in Ontario for free by taking any FSRA-approved Mortgage Agent Level 1 course, getting licensed with Mortgage Squad Advisors as your brokerage, and funding $10 million in mortgages in your first 12 months with us. Hit both, and we pay back your course fees in full. See the free course offer.
Why pay for the course yourself?
Most brokerages are happy to sponsor your licence, but the cost of getting there is yours. That's the barrier that stops many good candidates: career changers, newcomers, real estate agents and people who'd be great with clients but can't justify paying up front for a career they haven't tried yet.
We'd rather invest in people who are serious about producing. So we tie the payback to two things that show you're building a real business: 12 months with us and $10 million funded in that time.
Step 1: Take an FSRA-approved Mortgage Agent Level 1 course
Ontario requires everyone who wants to deal in mortgages to complete an approved Mortgage Agent Level 1 education program and pass its exam. You can choose any FSRA-approved provider, such as REMIC or Seneca, and pick the format and pace that fit your schedule. Check FSRA's current requirements before you enrol. The payback works the same whichever approved provider you choose.
Step 2: Get licensed with Mortgage Squad Advisors
After you pass, you apply for your licence through FSRA with a sponsoring brokerage. Choose Mortgage Squad Advisors (FSRA #13737) and we can pre-onboard you while you're still studying, so your portal, branded website and lender access are ready the day your licence comes through. For the full licensing walkthrough, read how to become a mortgage agent in Ontario.
Step 3: Fund $10 million in your first 12 months
$10 million is a real target for a first year, and we don't pretend otherwise. Here's the support you get to reach it:
- Leads, not just a licence: your own branded website plus our marketing.
- Agentic AI: Maya answers your clients 24/7 in 50+ languages, and Harvey checks every file before it goes to a lender.
- Live training every week: underwriting and deal-structuring sessions on weekdays and weekends.
- A Broker Manager on your deals for your first 90 days, plus monthly 1-on-1 mentorship.
- 100+ lenders: A-lenders, B-lenders and private lenders, so you can place files other new agents turn away.
Step 4: Get your course fees back
Once you've been a licensed Mortgage Squad Advisors agent for 12 months and funded $10 million in that time, we pay back the course fees you paid to the FSRA-approved provider, in full. The exact terms are written into your agent agreement before you join, so there are no surprises.
Who this is for
- Career changers from banking, sales, accounting or customer service.
- Real estate agents who want to add mortgages to their business.
- Newcomers who want to serve their community in their own language.
- Anyone who wants a flexible, high-earning career and is ready to put in the work.
